Quarterly PTA Board meetings have run about one hour.  PTA Board members can not be employees of LISD.  Only current PTA members can be considered for a board position.  The following positions are elected positions.  Positions can be "co-led" by two persons.

PRESIDENT:
Manage overall objectives and strategies of the PTA
Act as a liaison between parents and principal/staff
Assist in recruiting of PTA Committee Chairs
Create agendas and facilitate monthly PTA meetings and board meetings
Represent local PTA as a delegate to Council PTA
Authorized to sign on bank accounts
Serve as ex-officio member of the all committees except nominating and audit committee
Appoint audit committee subject to exec committee approval
Appoint parliamentarian and historian subject to approval of newly elected officers
Other duties and projects as necessary and desired.
Attend LISD monthly PTA Council Meetings
Attend one-time PTA officer training meeting (2 hours)
Attend most if not all PTA sponsored events

1ST VICE PRESIDENT:
Acts as an aide to the President and presides in the absence of the president
Recruit and support committee chairs for key RBMS programs including:
Clothes Closet/Lost & Found
Teacher Appreciation
Watch D.O.G.S.
Reflections
 
2ND VICE PRESIDENT -MEMBERSHIP (click here for a complete PDF guide)
Coordinate membership drive and presides in the absence of the president
Attend all monthly PTA Board meetings,
General PTA meetings, and most if not all PTA sponsored events
Provide general assistance to the President
Obtain supply of membership forms
Prepare advertising for PTA Membership
Request for volunteers to staff a membership table at the following events
Cougar Camp (One day 6th grade orientation before school sometime in the 2 weeks before school starts) and 7th and 8th grade Open House (occurs the 2nd week of school).
Put membership forms in teacher mail boxes, put extra forms in wooden holders in main office
During first two weeks of school check PTA mailbox for membership forms
Enter names in excel database
Send check and membership list to State PTA and National PTA by Oct. 15th
Make regular deposits 
Attend one-time PTA officer training meeting (2 hours)
Recruit and support committee chairs for key RBMS membership events including Cougar Camp.

3RD VICE PRESIDENT-FUNDRAISING:
Preside in the absence of the president (in their designated order).
Recruit and support committee chairs for RBMS fundraising events including:
Sale and ordering of student Agendas
Spirit Gear
First Dance
Cougar Prowl Fun Run
Candy Grams
Attend all monthly PTA Board meetings,
General PTA meetings and most if not all PTA sponsored events
Provide general assistance to the President
Coordinate all the various extra ways to earn money (Devise catchy, fun strategies;  seek out businesses programs for money back; Some smaller businesses want to have one night fundraiser activities, etc.)
Oversee all fundraising activities
Attend one-time PTA officer training meeting (2 hours)

Attend all monthly PTA Board meetings and General PTA meetings
Record the minutes of all meetings
Keep an accurate record of attendance at executive board meetings;
Responsible for correspondence (Thank you letters, notes etc.);
Maintain a list of Local PTA officers who have completed the Texas PTA Leader Orientation
Maintain the records retention and conflict of interest policy
Maintain a membership list.
Provide general assistance to the President
If you cannot attend, make sure someone can take notes for you.
Provide a sign-in attendance sheet for all meetings
Take minutes from meetings and type up for review by PTA board and for the record
Recruit and support committee chairs for:
Newsletter
Student Directory
Website

Attend all monthly PTA Board meetings,
General PTA meetings, and most if not all PTA sponsored events
Balance the PTA checkbook and provide an update of the balance at each meeting.  Write checks for expenditures, make deposits, complete the tax return.
